Greek Orthodox Christian Anthropology and Person—Centered Approach to Education: Tentative Tracing of Their Parallel Paths and Exploration of Potential Encounter between Them
Our purpose is the tracing of the possible parallel paths between Eastern Christian Orthodox anthropology and Carl Rogers's person-centered approach to education (PCA) and the investigation of their compatibility. Referring to the work of the Holy Fathers we study three basic elements of Greek Orthodox Christian theology, namely person, agape and discrimination. In addition, we explore the possible relation of the above to the specific anthropological aspects and qualities of person-centered theory and its educational practice, such as the concept of the person, unconditional positive regard and presence.
