Abstract
In only ten years the market for rigid plas tic foams has grown to reach 850 million bd ft (about sixty million dollars). The properties of the various types of foams which make up this market—polystyrene, urethane, polyvinyl chloride, ebonite, phenolics, and urea-formal dehyde, are described. The contributions of each type of foam to the various sectors of the market is discussed. Building construc tion, low-temperature insulation, and sand wich construction are covered. In conclusion an analysis of the expected future develop ment of the rigid plastic foam market in Europe is given.
