Abstract
What concepts characterize the study of business communication? The present analysis examined the key words occurring in 100 abstracts of articles pub lished in The Journal of Business Communication between 1988 and 1994 to uncover the major concepts of this field of study. Results suggest a central clustering of research in the field around the frequently used concepts of ''per sonnel," "employees," "written skills," "sales," and "listening." Other, more diversely associated, concepts emerged as well.
