Two studies of interviewer training are reported. In the first, no differences were
found between trained and untrained interviewers in applicant characteristics used to
judge acceptability. In the second, three different training programs were examined.
Training on avoidance of rater errors produced changes in the manner in which the in
terview was conducted. Results are discussed in relation to changing specific behaviors
of interviewers through training.
