To determine the present status of business communication instruction in postsecondary
institutions in the United States and to note changes in instruction within the past four
years, a 1982 survey was replicated; data were collected from 356 institutions and analyzed
within the categories of institutional information, information about the basic business
communication course, and information about other business communication courses . Major
differences in instruction were found between 1982 and today and between two- and
four-year institutions.
