Abstract
Business Communication appears to be following the same paths that led Educa tion, English, and Sociology into their present state of decline: making a subject out of a method, over-analyzing our field, and overstating our importance. We can avoid a similar decline by regarding ourselves as teachers, not research scholars; as creators, not analyzers; and as secondary, not primary.
