Abstract

This article looks at Professor Hudson-Weems's work Africana Womanism, in particular her 18 qualities of an Africana Woman. Hudson- Weems briefly addresses in her work the 18 characteristics of the Africana Male. The article then takes these 18 characteristics for men and applies them to the male characters from four novels: Brown Girl, Brownstones, Things Fall Apart, The Bluest Eye, and Hiding Place.
