Abstract
This article addresses the applicability and longevity of sociotechnical systems (S TS) projects in various organizational settings, focusing particularly on an organization change project undertaken by the computer operations division of a research and development laboratory. The author examines the results and evolution of the project's design three and eight years afterwards in terms of the organization's leadership and culture, and concludes that STS analysis is appropriate for white-collar service settings and can generate longterm success.
