Abstract
“Archaeoastronomy and Refraction Near the Earth’s Surface,” by Stephen C. McCluskey, Journal for the History of Astronomy 2017, 48(3), pp. 329–345.
The article contains an incorrectly composed sentence on p. 331:
“What we will call archaeoastronomical refraction combines these two effects to measure how much higher or lower an astronomical body appears in relation to a terrestrial object on the distant horizon.”
The sentence should read: “What we will call archaeoastronomical refraction combines these two effects to measure how much lower an astronomical body actually is in relation to a terrestrial object, when they both appear to be at the same altitude on the horizon.”
