Abstract
In my review of Benno van Dalen’s Islamic Astronomical Tables: Mathematical Analysis and Historical Investigation, published in this journal, 45 (2014) 500–504, I erred in claiming that the estimator he obtained through the least number of errors criterion is not a maximum likelihood estimator. It is indeed a maximum likelihood estimator under the error model that he assumes.
