Letter of Caroline to HerschelJohn, 4 June 1831: “Six years ago I had a vault built in the spot where my parents rest. The ground is mine auf ewig [for ever].” BL Ms Egerton 3761. The horizontal slab rests on a stone base and is some 30cm above ground level.
