Abstract
The author seeks to be faithful to Tradition while drawing on Lacanian psychoanalysis to understand the inheritance of the effects of Original Sin in terms of an intergenerational transmission of signifiers which he finds illustrated in the three generations of the Coûfontaine family in Paul Claudel's trilogy.
