Abstract
In the author's view, possibly the primary moral task of humanity is the reconciliation of diversity and unity, the drawing together of all the parts of the human family. Such global reconciliation is essential to the Christian mission of establishing the reign of God on earth. This work has parallels in the work of artists - missionaries of beauty and goodness. Art, which can and should enrich human life, has been important in the Christian Church. It helps us to reflect on the task and cost of creating, typified in God's sending his Son in a new creation, thereby reconciling the world to himself.
