Abstract
The crisis caused by the revelations of child sexual abuse highlights the importance of moral accountability within the Christian community, especially that of bishops to the laity. Has this issue has been avoided to some degree by issuing apologies and asking forgiveness? What has, and can be, done to foster greater accountability and thus strengthen the genuine authority of the Church?
