Abstract
The publication of a collection of selected texts from the Proceedings of the 1978-1995 Annual Conferences organised by the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars (FCS)* provides the author an opportunity critically to examine the Fellowship and its aims. The political and cultural situation of contemporary American Catholic academia provides the existential context for such a critique.
