Abstract
Against the background of the history of the formula anhypostasis-enhypostasis, used originally to help define the humanity of Christ, two attempts to find a more contemporary expression of its truth are analysed, one by the Anglican scholar, H. M. Relton, and the other by the Protestant theologian, Karl Barth.
