The last few decades have produced a steadily rising incidence of multiple infants. Dealing with several babies, grossly overtaxes the mother who cannot cope unaided.
The present social policy in Israel, regarding families of triplets and quadru plets, is that these families have nurse-maids working in their homes during the first six months of the infants' lives, the funding coming from the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.
