Abstract
A distinction is made between having and possessing, the former former being related to being and the latter to various forms of psychopathology. Within the therapeutic experience a transition from possessing to having is seen as ncessary. The idea of insight is related to a recognition of this transition and, ultimately, to the realisation of one's-own-death. Suicide is briefly considered in this context.
