In this paper, experience gained in teaching communication protocols at Telecom Bretagne Rennes and at EFP Poznan is reported. Both theoretical and practical teaching aspects are developed. Some of the results presented in this paper are the result of didactic cooperation within the TEMPUS Joint European Project S-JEP 07478-94 “Teaching programme in telecommunications networks”
