Emf induced by flux-cutting is interpreted as that in a closed circuit due to an enclosed ‘magnetic (convection) current’. Conversely, the m.m.f. in a closed magnetic circuit enclosing a current is interpreted as due to cutting of electric flux. These interpretations make the picture of electromagnetic phenomena complete and symmetrical.
