The effect that minimum mark caveats have on borderline students in engineering examinations
The case of students who obtain an average mark for a set of papers which lies on a borderline is considered with respect to minimum marks to be obtained in all papers. Data is presented to show that such caveats can be severe on the students, particularly when the assessment scheme is made up of a large number of papers.
