A form of self-excited single-phase synchronous generator is proposed. The armature carries a main winding and an auxiliary winding in space quadrature. By connecting the latter to the field winding via a diode bridge rectifier, self-excitation is obtained. The voltage regulation is improved by including a capacitance in the excitation circuit. Experimental results and waveforms are presented.
