This paper describes the procedure for the design of digital Butterworth and Chebyshev filters in the frequency domain. A sequence of steps is given to compute the coefficients of the digital filter that meets the desired specifications. The technique of applying the frequency transformation in the digital domain to the design of other filters such as highpass, bandpass and bandstop is also included.
