The paper considers the relationship between winding harmonics and slot numbers and the reason for differences in the performance of machines when connected in star or delta. An equivalent circuit which can be used to calculate the magnetising current for an irregular winding is then discussed and finally a means of measuring the harmonic flux content is described.
