The paper presents an elegant method of analysis for studying the transient response of a solid block of steel subjected to either unit impulse input or unit step function input. In this analysis, B—H relationship is assumed to be linear. The differential equations involving the field quantities for the two-dimensional and three-dimensional representation of the mathematical model are reduced to a simple form with the help of suitable transformation.
