Abstract
Techniques normally associated with automated condition monitoring, such as dynamic analysis, spectrum comparison and fault diagnostics may be used to create a sensitive inspection technique for mechanical products capable of detecting faults not easily found from performance tests. This article outlines the concept of the technique, known as Product Quality Monitoring (PQM), examines some of the methods employed and discusses advantages, limitations and future development.
