Abstract
This article describes the computer based control and supervisory system installed at the Davyhulme Effluent Treatment Works in Greater Manchester. The advantages of centralised control and supervision of the plant are outlined and the article describes the evaluation of different systems to meet this philosophy. The criteria applied in the selection of the final system are also discussed. The configuration of the computer system and the facilities provided are described including mimic, data and alarm displays, logging, and control of the plant.
