A multi-frequency identification scheme employing low peak-factor test signals is described. These signals may be designed using a simple formula originally due to Schroeder and may, additionally, be tailored to suit, most conveniently, signal processing based on the Fast Fourier Transform algorithm. The use of method in practice is shown by presenting results from a hydrodynamic experiment.
