The Analogue Recursive Computer, a uniquely structured computer, is briefly described. The use of the computer as an on-line controller is exemplified by a series of tests carried out with its controlling a pilot scale distillation column. The results are very satisfactory, showing not only its capability as a flexible controller but also demonstrating the ease of programming and the simple interface with the plant.
