Abstract
Good process control can be hindered by the build-up of fouling on temperature measuring elements. The problem can be particularly acute for batch processes, where deposits on the temperature bulbs may lead to dangerous reaction conditions during the start-up, prolongation of the batch cycle time, or off-specification product.
A special temperature measuring device has been developed to overcome this variable fouling lag. It has been tested experimentally and found to give a stable, more accurate temperature signal over a wide range of fouling.
