Abstract
The paper is in two sections. The first attempts to describe what an ideal man/machine interface might be in the control room; the second deals with a hardware implementation that could lead to the improved interface. Because the distribution of data is all important in any implementation of an advanced man/machine interface, a method of data distribution is synthesised similar to an associative memory in a computer system. Since the derivation of the system concept for the ‘Data Highway’ by the author, several similar systems have been proposed in recent literature.
