Abstract
Both the published and unpublished work of Hodgson on the measurement of pulsating flow rates by means of pressure differential devices is dealt with. Such situations are governed by the Hodgson number H0 = (CF/q) (L/p). The derivations, significance and practical application of the Hodgson number are discussed.
Also considered briefly are other types of flow meters developed by Hodgson that were less affected by pulsating flows.
