In 1964 some work was started on the development of an automatic radar. The basic objectives of this radar are to survey through 360 in azimuth and from 0 to 60° in elevation. Tracks are automatically initiated on targets in this region and the radar should maintain contact with these targets until they pass out of the region of cover. This paper is an account of the problems met in the development of the computer programs for this radar and the methods used to overcome these problems.
