Abstract
PIRA has spent some time on the study of low consistency measurement and the evaluation of two methods of measurement form the subject of this paper. They are firstly the Källe Thin Stock Indicator type K22S which is claimed by the manufacturers to measure consistency over the range 0.4 to 1.5% with an accuracy better than 0.05% consistency and secondly the Sperry Gravity-master which is an extremely sensitive instrument for the continuous measurement of the density of process liquids. Instruments of this latter type have been available for many years and their potential application was obvious. The Sperry however was the first to claim sufficient sensitivity to satisfactorily measure thin stock consistency.
