Abstract

Another great evening was spent in March at Jury’s inn, Middlesbrough, where the Teesside Section hosted their 69th annual event since its inauguration in 1947. Chairman Mr John Noon welcomed over 230 guests, including representatives of adjoining Local Sections, local representatives of various professional engineering institutes and academia.
We were pleased to welcome as our keynote speaker, the Institute’s President Professor Sarah Spurgeon OBE. Sarah spoke particularly about the various initiatives that are ongoing in respect of modernising the Institute’s communications and operations in general.
Excellent entertainment was provided by John Styles, the ex footballer, turned comedian son of England star and 1966 world cup winner, Nobby Styles.
The process industry cluster on Teesside has long been a fertile area for C&I engineers, making the reunion aspect of the event a great networking occasion.
