Central North-West Local Section presented a lecture by Harvey Dearden of SIS-Suite Ltd on “SIL-Validated Failure Rates and End Of Life Issues” on 20 September. The lecture was held at Yokogawa UK offices in Runcorn.
A total of 19 members attended and all agreed it was a well presented and thoughtful talk. Tom S Nobes (Programme Secretary) said, Thanks to Harvey for this very well put-together talk on real and practical issues facing SIS users. It’s easy for us to fool ourselves that IEC61511 issues are mostly all design issues. But most of our SIS systems spend years or decades in operation, and the useful life of SIS has until now been something of a black-art.
