Abstract

The March 2016 dinner and reunion was organised by Teesside Instrument Engineers on behalf of the Teesside Section of the InstMC. Guests in a packed dining hall enjoyed the splendid fare served up by the staff of the Jurys Inn, Middlesbrough. After dinner, Chairman John Noon spoke of the Section’s achievements over the last year, particularly with its involvement with the local colleges and the university, where along with student recruitment, the Section supported a number of projects and provided academic achievement awards. He also spoke of the huge strides made to regenerate local industry, facilitated by the North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) and the North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC), with whom the Section has developing working relationships. Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Harvey Dearden spoke of the great things expected of both our recently recruited President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), also of the successful changes in the governance of the Institute and the efforts made by the Teesside section in bringing this about. He also spoke regarding the significant additions to member benefits, some already available, others in the pipeline. The real entertainment was provided by comedian Jed Stone, who had his audience laughing to the proverbial rafters. The above picture shows the Teesside committee enjoying pre-dinner refreshment along with guests representing neighbouring local sections, industry development organisations, other engineering institutes in the area and members of local academia. This ever-popular event continued well into the early hours, allowing guests to enjoy the excellent networking opportunities provided by the reunion.
