Abstract

The Annual Dinner & Reunion of the Teesside Section has been hailed as “one of the best ever”. Mr Norman Harrison, completing his final year as Chairman spoke of the achievements of the Section over the previous year, a sentiment echoed by the principal speaker Dr Graeme Philp, Hon Secretary Elect of the InstMC and CEO of Gambica, the Instrumentation, Control and Automation trade association. Dr Philp spoke at length of the fundamental changes which have recently occurred in respect of the Institute’s governance and what this means to the membership at large. He also spoke of major government initiatives in support of the engineering profession, this being a key plank in the repatriation of manufacturing to the UK.
The real entertainment was provided by comedian Lea Roberts an ex Halifax rugby player. Lea provided us with non-stop mirth of the best kind.
The evening concluded with a prize draw in aid of upgrading MRI scanners at the South Cleveland Hospital. A sum of £1830 was raised which will be matched by the sections charitable fund.
