Abstract

Each year, the Teesside Section presents an award to the best performing final year student studying for a BEng in Measurement and Control on a part-time basis.
The recipient of the 2014 award is Mark Anthony Watson, pictured with Colin Howard representing the Teesside Section. Mark, who works at Sellafield, travelled to Teesside over his 4-year study period, a 2-h drive each way. Over his study period, Mark’s grades in any subject never fell below 70%, with a second year average of 85% and an award average of 79%, resulting in the award of a First Class Honours degree. We wish him well in his future endeavours and trust that the West Cumbria Section will welcome him into their fold.
The Harry Orr award is presented in memory of a well-respected lecturer at the university, renowned for going the ‘extra mile’ in the encouragement and support of his students.
