Abstract

Professor Ken Grattan, FInstMC, FRAEng, has been elected as the next President of the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO), from 2015 to 2018. He will also be President for IMEKO’s 2018 World Congress, being hosted by the Institute, in the United Kingdom for the first time since 1967.
Ken is a former President of the Institute (2000) and is currently Dean of City University’s Graduate School and the University’s George Daniels Professor of Scientific Instrumentation. He was elected as the next IMEKO President by that body’s General Council at its meeting in Italy in September 2014.
Founded in 1958, IMEKO is a federation of 38 member organizations worldwide who are individually concerned with the advancement of measurement technology. Its key objectives are the promotion of international interchange of scientific and technical information in the field of measurement and instrumentation and the enhancement of international co-operation among scientists and engineers from research and industry. The UK member organization of IMEKO is the Institute of Measurement and Control.
