Abstract

Members of the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC) are invited to propose candidates for the post of President of the Institute from 2015. Proposals will be reviewed by the Institute’s President Nominations Committee 1 who will select a candidate for Council to consider and, if deemed appropriate, to endorse.
Proposals should be submitted to the Chief Executive with a comprehensive statement of why the candidate is considered suitable and how they meet the criteria given below. It should be noted that for such a prestigious position, the standard is correspondingly high. The appointment will be for a 2-year period, with the possibility of an extension for a further 2 years.
Criteria for Nominations to the Office of President
A technical professional of demonstrable standing;
A capable public speaker;
Of such demeanour as will uphold the dignity of the Institute;
Willing to commit to the role for at least the initial term.
Preferably they should
Be a Fellow of one or more professional bodies (not necessarily the InstMC);
Be in a position to broaden the influence of the Institute, in the United Kingdom and abroad, through their personal network (the ‘ambassadorial’ role).
Professional eminence and a position that facilitates the ambassadorial role will be recognised as strong arguments in favour of candidate.
