Sontay Partners with Kele
Sontay, the control, measurement and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) peripherals specialist, has announced a new distribution partnership with Kele, a leading supplier of building automation products based in North America. Kele is distributing Sontay’s innovative SonNet wireless system to an American audience.
Memphis, Tennessee based Kele has grown from a conventional temperature control contractor to a global building automation specialty company. With over 30 years of experience within the industry, the company’s aim has always been to deliver a complete package solution to its customers ensuring they can find everything they need in one place and from one supplier.
‘We are thrilled to be partnering with Sontay’, said Andy Lin, Product Manager at Kele.
Sontay’s products are high quality and easy to use, they also work well for building automation applications. SonNet is a fantastic wireless system and complements our existing product offering. We are working with Sontay to add to the range of products we offer and look forward to a successful partnership with the company.
Sontay’s managing director (MD), Trevor Palmer, commented, Kele is a well-known name within the building automation industry and the company has been around for many years, offering great service and high-quality products to its customers. The company’s ethos fits perfectly with our own and we are eager to develop and strengthen our relationship in the coming months and years.
The SonNet family of wireless sensing devices provides accurate measurement of temperature and relative humidity within a building and communicate these readings reliably to its control system. With self-healing tree topology, SonNet eliminates concerns over reception and reliability that are often associated with existing point-to-point wireless systems. Judges were impressed by this system’s self-diagnosis capability and the fact that it is an easily retrofitted solution in existing buildings.
New Nuclear Would Be ‘Huge Boost’ for West Cumbria
GMB, the union for workers in the nuclear sector (http://www.gmb.org.uk), has commented on the announcement that Toshiba Westinghouse has acquired a majority (60%) stake in the NuGen New Nuclear Build Project at Moorside Project in West Cumbria.
This will be a big economic boost for the area and the industry, and there will also likely be positive knock-on effects for certain suppliers of automation and instrumentation in the United Kingdom.
Gary Smith, GMB National Secretary for Energy, said, ‘West Cumbria has skills in the nuclear sector that are second to none. This would be a huge boost to the local economy if this power station gets the go ahead’.
He continued, I’ve spent the last two days meeting Brussels officials on new nuclear as we need the EU Commission to reach a speedy conclusion on the competition inquiry to get these projects moving. GMB has secured assurances that the EU Commission will expedite their work speedily but rigorously.
He continued, ‘We need government assurances over connections to the National Grid and we will obviously want talks with the companies involved to ensure that the construction and manufacturing supply chain and the local community benefit from this project’.
GMB says that it has secured ground-breaking agreements on construction at Hinkley Point C and that these provide ‘great platforms to move any project forward’. The union also says that it needs to start talks soon with Toshiba Westinghouse to get negotiations underway for such an agreement for West Cumbria.
