Abstract

So that the Institute can keep moving forward, fresh faces, fresh ideas and fresh initiatives are needed. Members who would like to influence and lead the development and direction of the Institute are therefore cordially invited to consider standing for election to the following posts, which become effective from January 2015:
– Honorary Secretary
– Vice-President (x 3 vacancies)
– Members of Council (x 4 vacancies).
The Hon Secretary supports the President and, as the Institute’s ‘elder statesman’, seeks to ensure that there is continuity and consistency in its affairs and deliberations. In terms of advice and adjudication he/she acts as a point of reference and reassurance for all members. Professional standing is expected to be complemented by presence and personality.
The Vice-Presidents support the President in fostering the objectives and interests of the Institute and deputise for him, as appropriate and necessary, in the discharge of his duties.
Members of Council are the interface between the Institute’s central organs of governance and leadership and the general membership. They support and advise the Board of Trustees in matters of strategy and policy and participate directly in the planning and implementation of operations and activities.
The posts are each for initial terms of three years and may be extended for a further three years subject to re-election at the end of the term.
Members, (i.e. Hon Fellows, Fellows (FInstMC), Members (MInstMC) and Associate Members who are registered as EngTech), interested in standing for election should contact me before
