Abstract

Rittal’s ‘IP69K’ Hygienic Design Enclosures
Rittal has extended the range of protection categories for their Hygienic Design range of enclosures. With immediate effect, all Hygienic Design compact enclosures and terminal boxes satisfy the demands of protection categories: IP66, IP69K along with NEMA types 12, 13 and 4X with the addition of NEMA 3R for their range of HD-KL terminal boxes.
Rittal Hygienic Design offers new housing solutions to meet the exacting requirements of a wide range of industries. Rittal claims that with the extended protection categories, the range of products can be cleaned faster and easier than ever before, reducing the down time for scheduled maintenance and increasing the end users productivity, efficiencies and profitability.

VxI Power’s Compact new 40W Battery-Backed Switch-Mode PSU
VxI Power has added a compact new 40W model to its Oracle family of battery-backed switch-mode power supplies, which are used in a wide variety of mission-critical applications.
Particularly suitable for systems where the available space is restricted, the Oracle III-40 measures just 100 × 100 × 45 mm3 and yet is equipped with all the advanced communications and control features of larger models in the range.
The power supply unit (PSU) operates from a universal alternating current (AC) input and provides a main output for powering the load, together with a second output for charging an external 12 or 24 V standby battery. In the event of mains failure, the PSU automatically switches to battery power.
The unit is available with either an RS232 port or an RS485 port with full Modbus functionality, making it easy for users not only to configure the variable main output voltage and charging current but also to remotely monitor system status and battery condition. The power supply is equipped with two volt-free relays and two open-collector/transistor–transistor logic (TTL) input/output (I/O) connections.
Designed specifically for smaller, lower-power systems, the PSU has a low standby power of less than 1 W at 230 V AC. In addition, its low backdrive – that is, the current the unit draws from the battery when the AC is off with no load – helps to maximise useable capacity in smaller battery systems.
Temperature-compensated charging ensures maximum battery capacity at low temperatures and maximum battery life at high temperatures, and the unit also incorporates deep-discharge, over-current and surge protection.
The Oracle III-40 can be supplied in various case styles, including Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) rail mount, panel mount and chassis mount options.

Rotork Valvekits Awarded International Contract
In one of Valvekits latest international contracts, the company is supplying over 250 valve mounting kits and spool pieces for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility under construction in the United States.
Designed and manufactured at the Valvekits UK factory, the mounting kits and spool pieces will provide adaptation for fluid power actuators on ball valves ranging in size from 3 to 42 inches (75–1000 mm), including a number of cryogenic valves. The Valvekits products are being supplied in batches to Rotork’s group facilities in Bilbao, to meet the production schedule of the Spanish valvemaker Poyam Valves, located near Idiazabal.
The final destination is a new LNG production plant being built by Bechtel International Inc. for Cheniere Energy Inc. on the Sabine River in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.
All Valvekits mounting kits are manufactured in accordance with their BSI ISO9001:2008 certification. Designs are produced in-house using the latest Solid Edge software and manufactured with machinery that is the focus of a continuous investment plan to keep the company at the forefront of technology.
