Abstract

March saw the 67th Annual Dinner and Reunion of the Teesside Section where almost 300 guests enjoyed some excellent fare, courtesy of the Middlesbrough Thistle Hotel.
The event was hosted by Chairman Norman Harrison, who spoke about the not so insignificant achievements of the Section over the previous year due to the efforts made by the local committee.
We were privileged to have as our keynote speaker the Institute’s President, Lord Oxburgh, who spoke (interspersed with humour) aboutthe importance of the professional institutes to both industry and engineers.
Formalities or rather the informalities were concluded with a hilarious performance by north east funny man Brendan Healey of the band Lindifarne fame. The pictures show the President enjoying a pre-dinner drink with committee members and the effect on the room of one of the speaker’s delivery.
