"Basics of RD" is published bimonthly by the American Thoracic Society, medical section of the American Lung Association. These articles are designed primarily for medical students and are distributed as a Christmas Seal service by the American Lung Association. In the belief that subscribers to RESPIRATORY CARE would also enjoy and benefit from them, we have arranged to reprint these articles in this journal.
