Abstract
In three studies done over the last few years, researchers at the Montreal General Hospital Pain Treatment Center have taken the mystery out of acupuncture. In studies on the use of acupuncture for the control of pain, it was found that equally effective results could be obtained by stimulation with disc electrodes on the surface of the skin. And cutaneous electrical stimulation can be performed by anyone, including the patient himself. In other words, Western medicine has long known and practiced pain control methods as effective, and more convenient, than Chinese acupuncture.
