Abstract
The resumé is an important tool for introducing an applicant for a position in respiratory therapy to a prospective employer. A resumé can be useful to anyone, not just to an executive. The resumé will be most effective if neatly typed, accurate, brief, and current. It must include personal data (birth date, height, weight, and marital and health status), education, pertinent work experience listed in reverse chronological order, credentials, professional association membership, and a list of personal references. A cover letter should accompany the resumé and be mailed to the institution's personnel manager. This letter also should be brief, stating the reason for the applicant's interest in that institution and his or her availability for an interview.
