Abstract
Successful educational strategies in the allied health professions depend upon a clear understanding of the required knowledge, specific skills, and defined task capabilities of each individual speciality. The interim laboratory is one example of an educational strategy by which the academic institution is able to complement the clinical agency by providing the student with additional or synergistic learning experiences that aid in the transfer of key concepts and skills. The efficacy of this strategy depends upon the careful application of learning theory and development of necessary supportive facilities.
