Abstract
The phenomenon known from psychiatric literature as folie 'a deux is discussed from an organizational perspective. It is suggested that folie 'a deux is a regular occurrence in organizations. The psychodynamic processes which play a role in folie 'a deux, the determining variables, and related behavior patterns are examined. Analogies are drawn with other group processes. A model of folie 'a deux in organizations is presented, emphasizing particularly superior-subordinate relationships. Some of the consequences of folie 'a deux in organizations are indicated. Finally, possible ways of recognizing and dealing with this interpersonal process are explored.
